Any power supply will never pull more than what the device is requesting.
Even if it's capable of putting out 4kw like in the 6500, if the cards and
phones attached only need 2.5kw, it will only pull 2.5kw from the power
line.
For the 4006, I think the WS-X4008 is a 400W so three of them culd
*theoretically* pull 1.2kW if needed. However, the 4006 does not require
that much and is set up in a 3 for 2 redundancy mode so therefore should
never pull more than 800W as it can survive happily (though not redundant)
on two power supplies.

Subject: 4006 power supplies
Hello gang,
does anybody know how many Watts an Inline Power Module for the 4006
actually uses ? I need two Auxiliary Power Supply Units at a minimum, which
means 2 x 1050W. But what if I put a third unit in there ? Does that use an
additional 1050W, or is it in standby mode, meaning that the total will
never be more than 2100W ?
I have the same questions with regard to the regular power supply units for
the 4006 chassis. They use 400W each, so two use 800W, but what if I put a
third one in there ?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards,
Georg Pauwen
