        Distance and metric determine which routes will be installed in
the IP routing table. The longest match is what the router is actually
making its routing decision on. Therefore, in your presented case, the
prefix 10.1.0.0/16 would be chosen. If you had both 10.1.0.0/16 via
OSPF and RIP, only the OSPF prefix would be installed in the IP routing
table. Afterwards, the router would be making its decision based on the
longest match.

        Distance and metric determine what routes are installed in the
routing table. Longest match determines the actual route to use.
