In an NBMA network like frame-relay, split horizon is turned off by
default in all physical interfaces. However, split horizon is turned on
by default when using point-to-point or point-to-multipoint
subinterfaces. When running RIP, IGRP, or EIGRP in a hub-and-spoke
frame-relay network and a multipoint subinterface is configured at the
hub - split horizon needs to be manually disabled to allow proper
advertisement of learned routes to/and from all the spoke routers. If
split horizon is left enabled, routes learned from one spoke router will
not be advertised to the other spoke router because of the split horizon
rule.
