I am working on the ospf virtual link lab on page 406 of the gold
saterlee/hutnik book. If you look at the link between routerB and routerC,
it is 2 physical serial links and you configure ospf between them.
Considering the default for physical interfaces with frame encapsulation is
NBMA, and when i configured these physical interfaces to participate in ospf
in the proper areas, my sh ip ospf interface on both interfaces showed
Network Type NON_BROADCAST. With NBMA I have to define neighbors because of
NBMA lack of broadcast capabilities. When its configured with no neighbor
statements I get no adj, and when I define neighbors on each I establish adj
which I believe is all correct. However, the book does not show to config
neighbor statements. is this incorrect? I searched for errata for the book
but I can't seem to find any. Am I missing something or am I correct? Thanks
team!!
