If you are getting the same message each time, it would indicate that your file is bad. When it is copied, you need to make sure it was copied as a binary file, otherwise it screws up the checksum (gets dealt with as an ASCII file)
The best way to copy the IOS is to get it from another router. If this is available to you, set it up as a tftp server and crack on.
