--- Hi Eaton,Below I forward the quote from CCIE collective team responses to question in July 2002:
"Hi Folks, I've gotten many questions on how the hardware changes we are making will affect content on the lab. Rather than answer each question individually, I felt I would respond to all with this post: First of all, unless we announce on our web site, those items that are EXCLUDED from the labs, you need to consider the version of IOS we use, consider the equipment we list and basically from there, anything is fair game. However, I would like to share with you, how I would interpret the introduction of 2 3550's to each candidate rack: 1. We will have 2 3550's in each rack. This should indicate trunking, EtherChannel etc is all likely. 2. We are using the Enhanced Multilayer Image (EMI). This means we can and will test the L3/L4 capabilities of that platform. 3. Since we are dealing with a Layer 3 switch we have essentialy added 2 IOS based routers to each rack. 4. All Layer 2 features still apply. i.e VLANS, Spanning Tree etc. 5. We can also test content such as QoS on the 3550 6. You may want to take a look at the configuration guide for the 3550 and look for those features that are specific to the platform.
Also, because Security and C&S use the same basic rack setup, you will find the same hardware changes however, the list above applies to Routing/Switching. Therefore if you are anticipating either Security or C&S, you need to consider what features apply to each test. For example, what features specific to the 3550 platform are Security Related? What features might be C&S related moreso than R/S?
Now, I cannot tell you specifically what will be on any of the test, therefore, the above list is more of a what you MIGHT find list. Hope it helps.
Regards, Kathe "
