U sure that r1 passes that route as a 10.0.0.0/8
Its passing accross the same majour class and the masks are the same as
well..
I think it send it as it is 10.1.1.0/24
Did you check this in a lab.
I thought it would only pass as a /8 if it was passing across something
11.0.0.0

Subject: Classful (IGRP/RIP) discontigous network issue
Hi All,
Need an advice on the following on a simplfied scenario on discontigous
network under RIP or IGRP:
10.1.1.1/24------R1----------10.2.2.0/24----------R2-----10.1.2.2/24
Let say IGRP is used. When R1 passed the route for 10.1.1.0/24 over to R2,
the network is send across as
10.0.0.0/8 to R2. However when R2 receive this route, it will not install in
its routing table as two of its interfaces have the major network number.
This issues can be solve by using static routes on each side.
However, I would like to know if there is any other methods to overcome this
beside using static routes.
Thanks
Ivan Lim
