Thanks a lot,
Now I can see how irdp preference works (actually it was described earlier
by Maestro Dennis ;)
Lowest number is winner when signs are the same (+ ot -), positive is winner
in case of differnt signs:
r10-frame#ro
Gateway Using Interval Priority Interface
170.240.8.1 IRDP 10 50 Ethernet0 winner !!!
170.240.8.2 IRDP 10 100 Ethernet0
Default gateway is 170.240.8.1
r10-frame#ro
Gateway Using Interval Priority Interface
170.240.8.1 IRDP 8 - 50 Ethernet0
170.240.8.2 IRDP 8 - 100 Ethernet0 winner !!!
Default gateway is 170.240.8.2
r10-frame#ro
Gateway Using Interval Priority Interface
170.240.8.1 IRDP 8 50 Ethernet0 winner !!!
170.240.8.2 IRDP 8 - 100 Ethernet0
Default gateway is 170.240.8.1
r10-frame#ro

Subject: How to test IRDP ?
Hello,
I'm confused how to test IRDP using router as host. I setup 3 router on
ethernet segment:
R1:
int e0/0
ip add 170.240.8.1/24
ip irdp
ip irdp preference 200
R2:
int e0
ip add 170.240.8.2/24
ip irdp
ip irdp preference 100
R3:
no ip routing
int e0
ip add 170.240.8.9/24
ip irdp
after deb ip icmp enabled, I see on R3
2d22h: ICMP: rdp advert rcvd type 9, code 0, from 170.240.8.1
r9#
2d22h: ICMP: rdp advert rcvd type 9, code 0, from 170.240.8.2
I don't see any routes on R3:
r3#ro
Default gateway is not set
Host Gateway Last Use Total Uses Interface
ICMP redirect cache is empty
r3#
Thank You,
Dmitry
