Do you actually put the address on the interface or on the Vlan that the
applied to the interface ? If you trunk over to a 2950 and have 24
different vlans on the 2950, and the vlans have an interface on the 3550
as the default gateway then you would be routing.
BTW - I've heard that SX/LX GBIC's have a 'lifetime' of 500 insertions and
that Stackable's are NOT hot swappable.

Subject: Stackable GBIC
hi group
i have a question concerning the stackable gbic.
according to cisco it is possible to stack a 2950 with a Catalyst 3550-12G
with this stacking GBICs.
on the 3550 i can route on every interface and therefore give an ip address
to every interface. right?
what about the interfaces on the 2950 (which is a layer2 switch) if it is
stacked with a 3550? can i route on every interface? can i at least trunk
vlan traffic over the stacking gbic and route between this vlans on the
3550?
thanks for your help.
regards dave
