I've received a few replies, some seem confused about the definition of
"native". Here is a link that explains the difference:
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/81.shtml#difference
Basically, native is IOS, based on that three word definition sounds a lot
like the 3550 platform. The alternative is hybrid where you have both CatOS
and IOS running in the same box.
So, again the question is: If I study up on the 6500 in native mode (IOS
only mode) and never touch a 3550 will I be ready for the exam?
Thanks again,
Ray

Subject: Cat 3550 v. 6500 in native mode
I have access to 6500s in native mode, but not any 3550s, does anyone now of
any differences in them operationally? Obviously they are different
hardware platforms, but exactly how similar is the software?
If I study up on the 6500 and never touch a 3550 will I be ready for the
exam?
TIA,
Ray Perkins
