QUESTION: Can I use "PPP AUTHENTICATION CHAP CALLIN" in conjunction with
"PPP CALLBACK REQUEST"?
All,
I have a lab (practice) that specifically asks me to use "ppp callback
request" and "ppp authentication chap CALLIN" on R5. When I leave off
the "callin" section on the ppp authentication it works just fine. The
router dials, establishes the connection, gets dropped and the far end router
(R2) calls back. Both sides authenticate and everyone is happy.
Now the lab states that the router that makes the initial call (R5) should
never challenge the far side router (R2) when the call was initiated by R5.
The lab solution also shows that I should put the "PPP authentication chap
callin" on R5.
Debug dialer actually shows that "no callback was negotiated" and "BR0:1
DDR: Authentication required for callback" when I use the "callin" feature
So is the scenerio just wrong that I cant use PPP AUTHENTICATION CHAP CALLIN
in conjunction with PPP CALLBACK REQUEST or am I doing something wrong?
David
