Rick,

I haven't used a 3550 or 2950 yet, but I did read over
this briefly a week ago on cisco.com. From my brief
skimming of the docs it sounds like there are multiple
files on the flash the system runs off of. I believe
it was a main firmware image and some data files. The
archive command essentially TFTPs a TARball down I
believe and automatically extracts/explodes the
archive into the multiple files.
I may be wrong on this, but thats what I recall.
