Surely this would be Voice over IP...The ADSL doesn't come into it because
the ADSL is only the connection between yourself and the local exchange. If
it was only as far as that then you would have no worries because you have a
dedicated pipe there. Unfortunately as soon as you enter the DSLAM you
enter a shared medium, but again this isn't as bad as the next stage. The
internet, where voice quality starts it's fast plunge to nothing.

I myself connect to the Call Manager over VPN and my phone companiy's
network and find the voice quality is heavly dependant on the usage of my
connection. But it is still usable 99% of the time. It only deteriates
when I start to download something. But then again if the router my phone
company gave me was capable of QoS then that might be changed.

I would say for customer facing business use, this is not a good option, for
internal business use then it is an option.
