Mark,

I have used 12.1(14) without any problem on a 2501

Thanks everyone for the responses. Here is what I've done in the lab thus
far....

Following a suggestion, I upgraded the IOS on my 2501 to 12.2(1d). My in
initial BGP configuration as follows:

router bgp 2
 no synchronization
  neighbor 137.20.10.70 remote-as 3
 neighbor 137.20.10.70 update-source Loopback0

Neighbor relationship establishes, no problem!

Next, I added the following:
neighbor 137.20.10.70 default-originate

Once again the router crashes!!!

After reboot, I change my last config oh so slightly to the following:
neighbor 137.20.10.70 default-originate route-map test

Router does not crash.

NOTE: While I haven't gone through the task of actually creating a
route-map
named "test", that will be next on my agenda.

Subject: 2500 BGP Router Crash

Possible IOS Bug?

Running 2501 with 16/16 in home lab. With initial BGP config:

router bgp 2
 no synchronization
 bgp log-neighbor-changes
 neighbor 137.20.10.70 remote-as 3
 neighbor 137.20.10.70 update-source Loopback0
 no auto-summary

neighbor relationship is established via ethernet link -- no problem.

I add the following line:
 neighbor 137.20.10.70 default-originate

Router immediately crashes. See text below...

I've encountered this thus far with 12.1(5)T12 EnterprisePlus and IPPlus
versions

Any thoughts?
