You could always changed the encapsulation, that would bring it down I would
think and save you from having to administratively shut it down.
Does that work?

Subject: Testing ISDN Backup interface
Guys,
Do anyone of you know how I can test the ISDN backup interface command when
applied on a HDLC physical serial interface without removing the physical
cable? I know that you can shut down a sub-interface on a Frame Relay P2P or
a
Multilink and fire-up the backup interface. However, shutting down a serial
line that is configured on a physical interface does not start the backup
link
as it will be administratively down.
Thanks,
Ahmed
