Hi Malcolm,

The NP-1A-SM is an OC3 ATM module (155Mbps single mode fiber). I don't think
you can get an OC3 module for the 2600 series (it couldn't cope with that
bandwidth). You would need a 2650, 3600, 4000 + series of router. Make sure
you get a Single mode fiber patch cable and an intermediate-reach adapter
(not long-reach) and you should be fine.

Check the IOS versions required for network modules if you get a 3620. You
may need extra memory or flash.

Colin

Subject: atm lab advice

Hi All,

I am setting up a basic atm lab as part of my ccie studies.

Currently I have a 4500M router with a single mode ATM fibre module
(NP-1A-SM) installed.

I was looking to buy a second router, something like a 2611 or 3620 with a
compatible atm module to link via fibre back into my 4500M router / module
so I could install an atm link into my home lab.

Does anyone know the best and most compatible way to do this?. I could get
another 4500M router / module but I would prefer something a bit newer i.e.
a 2611 or 3620 using fibre so I could connect between the 4500M and the 2611
or 3620.

I'd appreciate any comments.

Best Regards,
Malcolm
