This should make it to a FAQ.
If you are getting a message like
ERR: Invalid chip id 0x80B5 (reversed = 0x1AD ) detected in System
flash
then your problem is related to an old ROM not supporting AMD chips.
You have two options:
-call cisco for a ROM upgrade (it has been said it's free)
-boot your box with a new IOS via "boot system" and
then do the flash writing with it.
You'll continue to receive the said error, but it works ok.
