Yes. And set it to auto-answer on the first (or whatever) ring.

No, not an ethernet crossover. A "rollover" cable. The flat light blue
or black cable supplied by Cisco with the router.

If you have just "login" in the line config, then you'll just be prompted
for a password. If you have "login local" then you need a line such as

"username myname password mypass"

in the global configuration section and it will ask for both a username
and password.
