Yep, I passed (finally!) on Saturday at RTP, one year and one day after
passing the written exam. So take heart, everyone - if I can do it, you
can
do it!
Thanks to Paul for this forum, and to all of you for sharing your ideas.
In
the tradition of other candidates, I do have some advice for you. In RTP
the
exam starts at 7:30 am. If you're not used to being up and thinking at
full
power at 7:30 am, I recommend you do so for several weeks before your
exam.
It won't do you much good to have your body in that seat if your brain
doesn't wake up til 9:30 or so! Don't neglect exercise. It gets the
blood
flowing and helps you think clearly. Make a list of every route in your
network, and make sure they are on every router. Pay attention to the
small
stuff. Read the Idiots Guide to CCIE at least twice (just threw that in
to
see if you were still reading!) During the test, don't get discouraged
and
don't concede any points. Everything on there is doable. You just need
to
understand the technology and understand what they're asking. Proctors
don't
bite - hard. Don't skimp on any sleep the week before your test. Have a
high-protein breakfast the morning of your exam. Wash behind your ears
and
brush your teeth (you're still reading????) I made 3x5 cards and took
them
with me. When I was waiting in line, or in traffic, I reviewed them. I
also
went through every command on the doc cd during the week before the
exam,
but then I'm pretty hyper. I also used online labs for practice in ATM,
ISDN, and 3920, and had no problem with them in any of my three lab
exams,
so it can be done.
Again, thanks to you all. Hopefully I can give back something to the
group
now that I don't have to study! Best of luck to all of you.
