I agree the the security of the test is becoming suspect. But,
unfortunately, where there is a will, there is a way. As long as this cert
is considered a money maker, or a door opener, there will be people that get
into just for that reason.... quick bucks that they will do anything to
obtain. While this list for the most part adheres to the NDA (or as close
as possible considering the limitations imposed by the NDA and the list's
need to assist each other)... there are still "cheaters" that are willing to
get the number in any way they can. There is not a whole lot that we can do
about it and still provide assistance to each other. Cisco themselves
cannot prevent people with good memories from going into the lab and
remembering everything they had on their scenario. This practice, combined
with the sharing of this information to others seems to be the going trend
with this cert, much more that paying someone to take the test for you.
This is just further proof of the money associated.

Interviewing does not always catch these people as well. Several companies
see the CCIE number as proof of knowledge and experience, and therefore do
not perform any detailed interview. Of course, the is the company in
questions problem, as we all know what it means to ASSUME.

It is a side effect of this industry. It happened to Novell, then
Microsoft, now Cisco is next. I am sure that others like the CISSP are
next.

Regards and good luck to everyone,

Dan
