I'm not sure if you've looked at the command reference for these
commands, but they should give you some insight as to the use of the "lf"
command option.
The dlsw local-peer "lf" says..
(Optional) Largest frame size for this local peer. Valid sizes are 516,
1470, 1500, 2052, 4472, 8144, 11407, 11454, and 17800 bytes.
Whereas the dlsw remote-peer "lf" says..
(Optional) Largest frame size, in bytes, this local peer uses on a circuit
to avoid segmented frames.
Valid sizes are 516, 1470, 1500, 2052, 4472, 8144, 11407, 11454, and 17800
bytes.
The important thing to remember when configuring DLSw, is both the local or
remote host can be sometimes configured to meet a specific requirement.
This does not change the fact that all devices, once an attempt to build a
connection performs a capabilitites exchange to determine favorable/agreed
conditions on which to operate. The valid sizes are of importance when you
think about the fundamentals of token ring and bridging and the "NEED" for
the infomation provided by the Routing Information Field (RIF) field in
order to successfully route/bridge a frame. What's of interest here is..
the missing 64000 bytes(all routes-explorer). This would make sense because
the to devices have a direct connection and after the capabilities exchange
would not have to send all-routes explorer frames(111) .
In my studying of DLSw, I used the token ring and briding white papers at
CertZone which provided a good understanding of RIFs before totally
understanding these aspects of DLSw.
