It's actually a bit more elaborat than this. In order to belong to two differe
nt VLANs, the NICs will need two different IPs. So now, you have to do round-r
obin DNS for load sharing (one technique anyway). But if one of the ports on t
he NIC or path to it dies, you've blackholed yourself. Another option is to cr
eate a loopback on the server and advertise that via the two NICs. But this ma
y or may not be an option depending on a) political nature of your workplace, b
) the server OS.
