nope. you could do the same thing on a serial interface as well..

so ..
int serial0
ip unnumbered loop0

on another router...

int serial0
ip unnumbered loop1

would work as well. Lets not forget that OSPF forms adjacency by sending
msgs. to multicast address. This feature has been documented (briefly) in
OSPF Q&A.
