A brief look at the config guide for CatOS 7.2 gives the following info:

Use:

Console> (enable) set spantree portfast 4/1 enable trunk

Warning:Connecting Layer 2 devices to a fast start port can cause
temporary spanning tree loops. Use with caution

It further says:
Caution: PortFast can be used to connect a single end station or a switch
port to a switch port. If you enable PortFast on a port connected to another
Layer 2 device, such as a switch, you might create network loops.

And on how to use this:
Enable PortFast on a trunk port connected to a single workstation, switch,
or server.

Looks to be a new function ( 7.1 (1) was mentioned by Mr Rahman) and I would
believe it could be useful when you're using NICs with VLAN support.
