My original post asked why OSPF routes that appeared in the routing
table did not appear in the output of the "show ip ospf database"
command.
The answer is that the above command only gives you a high level summary
of LSAs in the database. In my case these were Router LSAs. So to
actually see the detail of these Router LSAs and the links that are
being advertised you need to type "show ip ospf database ROUTER".
RouterB#show ip ospf database ?
adv-router Advertising Router link states
asbr-summary ASBR summary link states
database-summary Summary of database
external External link states
network Network link states
nssa-external NSSA External link states
router Router link states
self-originate Self-originated link states
summary Network summary link states
