First of congrats to Munhib on passing the lab. Secondly guys lets keep this
all in perspective the CCIE lab is a practical test no matter what anyone
thinks there has to be a certain level of experience to pass. The MCSE on
the other hand is all written and there are so many people out there who
just braindump there way to it. Even as a CCIE does that mean you know
everything there is to know about R/S and on the same token if you have 7
years experience do you know everything about R/S especially if you work
only on one network that never changes any of it's technology. Lets not
forget we are all striving for the same goal and if anything we should be
happy to see one of our fellow Candidates get there number. Again congrats
to Munhib on his great accomplishment Keep on trucking
man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my story and I am sticking to it.

If I may, Munib is right. Experience is a good things, however just because
one has been working with a certain technology for a long time does not mean
that they know or have what it takes to meet ALL the requirement of
networking today. I work with few CCIE who are some of the best as far as
experience is concerned, how ever they humble themselves and continue to
learn new things. For example, just because one has been working with
routing and switching since the beginning does not guarantee that they know
everything about Realm-Specific IP (RSIP) or mobile IP. Experience is only
strong as its validity and usefulness when ever growing technology is
concerned. CCIE is but only another milestone (big one indeed) in the
continuum of learning. Let there be more CCIE's thus there will be
competition and hence quality.
Congratulations Munib. Continue learning for it will make you the best CCIE
there is! Old is gold, only if you like or use gold.

As you said, you were bound to get some stick about this.........I'll have
you know that since I started in the network game I've worked tirelessly in
getting as much experience as I can. I've worked with a number of different
technologies and gone over and above the call of duty on a number of
occasions just to make up for area in which I've lacked. I am one of the
most respected network technicians in my company and am frequently
approached for support....Just because of the fact that I can grasp and
understand terms and technologies quickly I believe makes me a better CCIE
not a worse one.......I sense that you are just a little sour that others
are attaining this certification that you feel you may feel you own......If
would suggest that you try to appreciate the level of discipline and
commitment it takes to get the CCIE being one yourself. Anyone who has
attempted the CCIE would know that it is impossible to pass without a
certain amount of understanding and experience. It's NOT like the MSCE
where you can read a book and go and attempt it, I'd like to see someone
try.......

Oh boy. I'm gona get some hate mail for this but...
This is clear proof that the CCIE is heading towards MCSE-land. Here is
another great example of someone who basically had their CCIE bought for
them. What happed to experience? This person has hardly seen a router 16
months ago! What does this say about the future of the CCIE? I have worked
with a disturbingly large amount of CCIEs who inadvertently trash the
certification because they completely fail in real world environments.
With repetition and incentive you can teach any dog a trick.

Kahn,
Congratulations. It's a tough journey, without a doubt. But your
persistence paid off.
P.S. The CCIE online store is now open, according to an email I got the
other day. Nice stuff they've got!

Well Finally it my turn to send this mail!!!!!
Passed yesterday in Brussels (3rd attempt). I was beginning to wonder if I
would ever get there. Firstly I would like to thank God without who nothing
is possible. I would also like to thank my family for their immense support
and patience.
It's been a hectic 16 month Journey from Dec 2000 when I attained my CCNA
and was just getting into networking and had hardly seen a cisco router. I
have learnt so much over the last year, when I look back I cant believe how
far I've come. My company, Fujitsu (formerly ICL) has given me excellent
support and carried the bill for all my exam attempts etc. I would also
like to send a special Thank you to all at Netlogic Consulting, They have
guided me along the whole path through CCNA, NP and IE. Their courses were
excellent and their after sales support proved invaluable to me in getting
prepared for the LAB. I would seriously recommend any of you guys in the
UK who are looking for a CCIE prep course to consider them,
www.netlogicconsulting.com, their lab scenarios were key to me understanding
and learning all the different technologies.
This list has also provided a great resource to find out info for
me.......Although I have been a relatively passive member I have learnt a
great deal from the discussions and also been greatly amused by some of the
OT discussions. Keep up the hard work everyone and don't give
up.........everyone can get there in the end.
