I dont have access to ATM and have to relay on just
reading the documents on CCO
But the problem with me is that more I read the more
confused I get, as I dont have any hands on with ATM.
I think I will need a lot of help from the group on
atm so PLS help me in whatever way u can.
PVC can be defined in 2 ways static and dynamic
SVC How to configure svc with static map and dynamic
map
Map layer 2 to layer 3 can be defined in 2 ways static
and by using IARP
What is the difference between IARP and ILMI what are
they used for and how do u configures them. What is
classic ip and how do this different from IARP AND
ILMI?
What is the use of VC with vpi as 0 and vci as 5
What is the use of VC with vpi as 0 and vci as 16
Why and when do we have to use the encapsulation of
qsaal?
What is the esi address?
What is nsap address?
What is the use of Arp server and how do we configure
it?
What is the use of Classic IP and how do we configure
it?
The only thing i think i know to do is define a static
pcv in the old and new way and then use a static map
to map layer 3 address to layer 2 address
PVC
In atm on multipoint interface we have to map the
layer 3 address to layer 2 address. As we do in
frame-relay map the ip address to DLCI. In atm we map
the ip address to a VC. This can be don in two ways
one is using static mapping and the other is using
IARP. In static mapping we can use the old way of
defining a VC with the command PVC vpi/vci. And in the
vc configuration mode define the layer 3 address of
the other end or use the new way of defining a vc with
the command atm pvc number vpi vci and use a map list
and map-group to define the other end layer 3 address
and encapsulation.
The other way is to use the IARP. To use IARP what and
how must we configure the router?
SVC
How do we configure svc?
How do we statically map layer 3 address to layer 2
address in SVC?
How do we configure a svc to use IARP to map layer 3
to layer 2 address?
TIA
