You need to enable gdp or gateway discovery protocol on the client to pick
up the icmp broadcasts. If it were a router you would issue the command ip
gdp irdp to pick up irdp advertisements from the gateways. I do not know
if you can configure gdp on the switch, but I would imagine you could. I
have only done it on the router.
