Depends on the model. You can look at the history of prices by doing a
search for 2513 (or whatever model) in "Computers:Networking & I.T.:Routers,
Switches:Cisco". Then click on "Completed Items" on the left under "Show
Only". Survey price range and consider higher weight for the most recent
prices. Be sure to check the results of your search closely. Some will be
for more than just the item you searched for (bundles, extras, etc) and some
will not meet a reserve (no sale). Also useful are the ones nobody bid on
because the opening bid was too high.
Lately, this model has been going for $450 to $510 range. Perform a similar
search for each model that you intend to bid on, and include models that you
may consider as alternatives. For instance, you can use a 2513 or 2503 (or
even 2600 series) to replace a 2501. These replacements make your lab more
flexible and allows you to find opportunities.
Remember, the price you pay on eBay is a crap shoot, so don't bid higher
than you are willing to pay. You must be very patient and let some of those
items go when you get outbid.
If you want to save yourself some pain and time, consider purchasing from
used suppliers for some or all of your purchases. You may not pay the lowest
possible price for each item, but you'll expedite your lab project and be
buying from a reputable business who will handle issues professionally. Here
are three to consider.

The first two sources listed will search for and find items not in stock if
you wish. A search on groupstudy will confirm their reputations.

Subject: Building a home lab
I am getting ready to start purchasing equipment to build my own lab at
home and wanted to get some advice. How much is typically spent on
Cisco 2500 series routers. I have seen a few on E-Bay in the 300-600
dollar range, but didn't know what was a good price and what was over
priced.
Any suggestions?
