This has happened to me in the past. I did find it in Bug Toolkit a ways
back. I think an upgraded code fixed the problem.

Subject: OT: Cisco 2900 Switch Lockup

Hey folks:

This is a bit off topic but I am unable to find any information on this. I
experienced, on a few occasions now, a Cisco 2912/24 switch actually lock up
(all lights solid) when the console cable is attached from a laptop to the
switch console port. I have tried several sequences on starting up the
laptop, making the connection with the console cable and firing up the
application (usually Hyper Terminal, Tera Term Pro or Secure CRT) but
without discovering a pattern. Now a new twist, yesterday while consoled
into a 2924 my laptop went into standby and caused the switch to lock up.
Once the switch has lockup the only remedy to getting the switch back up is
to power cycle the device. One side note: this has happed with different
laptops (same manufacture, different models).

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this problem and what they have
done to avoid it. Since this is not directly CCIE material please respond to
me directly at dmatheson@charter.net

TIA,

David
