FRTS - BEHere is the theory !!

AR = Actual access rate of the interface like for example if clocking is 64000
then AR is 64
CIR = Is not the CIR actual CIR the provider have given u if ur doing FRTS
MinCIR = is the actual CIR the ur paying for the link.

Now if we want to calculate CIR then,

CIR = Bc / Tc
EIR = Be / Tc

Where EIR is the excess rate what u will be boasting ....

dont confuse with the CIR , EIR , Bc and Be . Now i am giving example of CIR
only.

It is just like a car going on a speed of 100km/hr this CIR to us . So it is
the rate . but how much it wil go in 1 min is the burst of the car. it will
take 1.6km per min.

So i tell u that the RATE is 64000 that is the CIR .... here we dont know the
the time factor , we should know atleast one more thing to calculate. So take
for example as valid for data 0.125sec that is Tc for us.
Now :
        CIR = Bc/Tc
Bc = 64000 * 0.125
Bc = 8000

that is similar case with the EIR, lets say for example if our excess rate is
128k then
We have to take the same time value if calculating for the same link.

EIR = Be / Tc
Be = 128000 * 0.125
Be = 16000

In most cases the Be is doubled to Bc but this is the original way to
calculate.

If u want to calculate the peak then :

Peak = CIR + EIR

or

Peak = Bc/Tc + Be/Tc

Taking the same values from the example above.

Peak = 64000 + 128000
Peak = 192k

So ur AR should be capable to handle 192k that is ur interface speed /
clocking (if the interface is dce).

hope this helps !! and also confuse u .... <grin>

  Mr Mamoor, sorry about this question, i think you already answear this
question, but, i forget about it ! :-(

  I know that the BE Value is supplyed from Provider, but does exist some
formule or rule for to find the Be value in FRTS?

  thanks a lot
