It is supposed to be in disconnect state. I never saw that one. But you
know that if backup ever connects, that without linger it will never
disconnect. Care to post your configs?

I have configured a backup peer between two routers, no linger times are
specified but both peers are always in a connect state, I thought the backup
peer should have been in a disconnect state until the primary peer failed,
this is according to Solie (Page 921), however after finding numerous errors
in this book I am beginning to doubt it as a decent source of reference.
I will look on CCO, I just wondered if anyone had seen this behaviour
before.
