Too elaborate on this a bit.
I usually make as many subinterfaces as their are encapsulation types to run on
this type of interface.
Then I apply a different encapsulation to each one of the subinterfaces along w
ith a BS made up network number.
Do a debug ipx packet detail & then bring the port up.
You will see the subinterface that gets an error message back is the proper enc
apsulation type & the error message will tell you what network number the wire
is supposed to be.

Give the interface an IPX network number and then debug IPX. You
should see the conflict.
