Hahaha, hey, this is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night too. I was not
saying NOT to do
this kind of thing. I love convoluted setups too... but when looking for that n
eedle in the
proverbial hay stack, I like to take away all the straws before looking for the
needle :-)
I did think a lot about your situation and was thinking, I think Mr. Halabi tol
d me that NBMA can
sometimes behave just like shared Ethernet when it comes to EBGP relationships.
BGP is smart enough
to let a router know that the next hop is directly available rather than routin
g through an
unnecessary hop.
I wish I had my book here but it is currently unavailable. You are using PHYSIC
AL i/f's right? Well,
this may throw off BGP thinking it has more than one path to the destination.
I am gonna see if someone beat me to it here, but if not, I will look at them m
ore carefully and try
to "spot the issue" :-)
