Abraham,
Your routers, I am assuming they are 2500 models, should hold most 12.1 version
s of IOS. I am running 12.1(13) Enterprise Plus IPSEC 56 on every 2500 model r
outer I have. If you are getting checksum errors or other errors when trying t
o load the IOS then you have a flash memory problem. I have had checksum errors
but they were all physical problems with either; 1) old boot prom, 2) partitio
ned flash, or 3) bad flash. Unfortunately I have experienced bad flash a coupl
e of times and that can be very aggravating when trying to load IOS. It takes
so long to get that checksum error. One way to Identify a bad flash is to swap
the order of the SIMMs on the board. I did this and I went from having a chec
ksum error at the end of the ios load to a parity error in the beginning of the
tftp download. I then knew it was the flash in bank 0 that was bad. Take a l
ook at the archives on this list. Search using boot;flash, or 2500;memory, etc
. You will find many post that will teach
you all you need to fix your problem.
I highly recommend upgrading all 2500's to the latest Boot Proms just to elimin
ate the mismatched flash and dram size headache. Then all you have to worry abo
ut is good flash.
Buddy

Subject: IOS Version for LAB
Please suggest an 12.x ios that is required in the lab. I was trying to
upgrade my routers with 14.7MB IOS and I am always getting a checksum error
after it downloads. I am able to load 11.2_26 with out a problem. Please
suggest. All my routers have 16/16 of mem. Thank you.
Users of new switches, test the interface range command, it is cool.
Thank You.
