Hi Bill,

It is by default not possible to ping local Frame-Relay (or ATM)
interface on a Cisco router. To do this you MUST have a 'frame-relay
map' with the local IP address pointing to one of the DLCI's you have.
The other end of the PVC must have a map back to your interface.

With this configuration you can ping your local interface. But the
packet is transmitted over FR and returned before the ping request is
reaching the local interface.

Remember that you no longer have inverse arp when you have configured
one 'frame-relay map'. So if you use map on a interface for one
destination you must use map's for the other destinations on the same
interface.
