Depends on what type of cable you have in it. :)
The 6500's can do either straight-through or rolled. There's a little hole
next to the port, you can use a paper clip to select which method is being
used.
I am assuming that this is what you mean when you say you don't see anything
while booting (or does it miraculously appear after it's booted?)

We meet a Catalyst 6506 problem here. The symptom is the CONSOLE shows
nothing when the 6506 is booting. The console is configed as 9600/8/N/1. No
matter how I press the keyboard, it still shows nothing.
