RE: ISDN question

I see your logic, but I have never had to use the encapsulation ppp command
on the bri interface regardless of whether it was for inbound or outbound
calls. I am in the lab right now and I have it set up, it is working fine
without the encapsulation on the physical interface. The bri interface
shows hdlc encapsulation, but the b channels and dialer interface show ppp.
I also have a host route on both the incoming and outgoing routers, which
would indicate to me that they are actually running ppp.

~The ppp encap on the BRI (physical interface) is needed when
~the your dialer interface was configured for incoming call.
~
~When there is an incoming call, the physical interface will receive
~the call before the call can be associated with the dialer interface.
~
~If your dialer interfaces were only for outgoing calls, you need not
~configured ppp encap on the physical (BRI) interface.
