Sorry, I meant to say :
If you are mutually redistributing into/out of a stub is it really necessary
to apply distrib lists ?
If not into/out of a stub, I suspect it is always wise to use them ?
Also, would it be correct to think that for instance using IGRP and OSPF on
a router, that the distrib list should block all addresses you are already
aware of through IGRP from entering from the OSPF network, and one for
traffic going the other way from IGRP into OSPF ?
This is merely my simplistic view on it.
Please add if you feel it is wrong or additional best practices need to be
considered.
thanks,
R

Subject: Mutual Redistribution - Rules
Hi,
I'm trying to get it straight in my mind when it is necessary to apply
distribution lists when mutually redistributing.
Would it be fair to say that it is not necessary to use distrib lists unless
you specifically want to block a prefix when you are redistributing
from/into what could be described as a stub area (loose description of stub,
not necessarily ospf)?
Just trying to build up some rules in my mind.
thanks for any input.
R.
