I guess that it's expected based on my experience. I took my test in
Halifax three weeks ago.
When I went through custom at the airport on my arrival, I was asked about
the purpose of my trip. I said I was there to visit Cisco. The officer
said, are you taking that test?
When I visited the test site before the day of my test, I only saw a couple
of persons in the test room.
On my test day, I was the only person taking the test that day. There were
about four or five other racks just idling there.
It makes sense from cost reduction point of view.

Subject: Re: Halifax Lab closure in May 2002
Hi,
Yesterday received an email from Cisco said that it would close Halifax
:
Dear CCIE Candidate:
The Halifax CCIE lab has been in operation for over 5 years, and during
this time has served thousands of CCIE candidates. However, since the
events of September 11 the volume of bookings for the lab has dropped
significantly. Since most of the candidates taking the lab in Halifax
come
from the eastern United States, we feel that our customers would be
better
served by closing the Halifax lab site and creating more capacity in
our
lab site in Raleigh, NC.
Therefore, the Halifax lab site will close effective May 5,
2002. Candidates currently booked between May 5 and August 1, 2002,
will
remain on the schedule in Halifax until contacted directly by one of
our
customer service specialists to arrange an alternate lab date. Any
candidates booked after August 1, 2002 are asked to use our on-line
scheduling tool to make alternative arrangements. Halifax candidates
will
get priority for the additional capacity being opened up in RTP, and in
most cases can be scheduled on the same day. Candidates are also free
to
use the CCIE on-line scheduling tool to move their lab slot to another
time
and location if they so choose. Also, if candidates are interested in a
March or April lab date in Halifax, please let me know ASAP.
Cisco and the CCIE program will do everything possible to assist
candidates
in this move, and regret any inconvenience it may cause. However, we
feel
that this change will benefit the majority of our customers by reducing
travel time and associated costs.
Thank-you!
