atm pvc config using map-lst/map-group or using the pvc command?

hi !
conventionally i have configured atm pvc config using
the map-list/map-group commands ;
reading the in 11.3.t ios doc , u may just use the pvc
command ie:

interface atm0.44 mulipoint
pvc 0/44

can anyone has any experience of using the pvc command
as captioned above?

 would appreciate any feedback as to when is it
suitable to use the map-group/map-list and when to we
use the pvc commands.
