There are two authntication methods.

 1. Per area Authnetication - all the routers ( All the interfaces of
routers in that area) needs to be enabled for authntication.

 2. Per Interafce Authnetication - When u need authntication between only
two or more interfaces but do nto need the authntication for the entire
area.

Commands :

        IP OSPF Authntication - This will enable the interafce specific
authntication.
        ( U do not need this command if u are using the uthntication for the
whole area ).

        IP OSPF authentication-key and IP ospf message-digest-key 1 md5 -
these commands are used to set u r password.

        area 0 authntication - enables authntication for the entire area.

Make sure what ur using.
