jim,

If you want 2 routers in your area should not authenticate each other while
the area has authentication use ip ospf authentication null command on both
routers. This will allow adjacency to form but no authentication.

Subject: OSPF authentication

I am working on a lab with three routers that are part of the same subnet in
a point to multipoint frame configuration. The lab is asking for me to set
up authentication between only two of the routers not all three. Is there a
way to set up authentication on only certain devices in an area and not all
of them? I have never seen this, so I am wondering if the lab is wrong. But
I am the first to admit that there are lots of things out there that I have
never seen before.
