Question(s):
> Are the uplinks from the closet switches single
> connections to the 2 core > switches or are you
using Etherchannel on the> uplinks to each core
switch?
The connections are Single Connections no
Etherchannel, to the core switches.
> How many VLAN's are being used in the closet switch?
May be around 5 VLANS.The connection to core is Layer
2.
> Are the root bridges > for the VLAN's placed on the
core switches to enable > spanning tree load >
balancing?
The Active (left switch ) is the Spannning tree root
for all VLANS and then when it fails the other one
takes over.we have avoided Spanning tree load
balancing to avoid Sptree troubleshooting issues.
If not, which core is root for the VLAN > you are
testing from, and > does it matter which of the links
drops? In other > words does the problem > occur if
the link which comes back up is connected> to the root
bridge?
The same happens when any link fails. In fact there has
been no chance to test the other way around as when
the primary link fails (link form access to left box
now) the flows thru the right hand switch which
becomes Spantree Root and Active and fwds traffic and
traffic goes as
Acess - Right switch - left switch (as this is CSM(not
router)primary load balancing like CSS ))- fwall
When the link comes back the old-primary becomes
active and takes over immediately in span of 30
seconds.
We have no issues in this becoming prim except the
flows lost.
Hope i have clearly communicated the problem and
answer to ur questions.
Thanks in advance.
