Yeah. It sounds true. You would have an ip on all routers and you don't
need to bridge cross the middle one, so why need IRB?

If you didn't have an IP address on the BVI, then you're presumably not
trying to route IP (to that bridge group), in which case you wouldn't need a
BVI, because you wouldn't need to do IRB, because you weren't trying to
route to a bridge group... Did I follow that right -- I think I confused
myself there...

Basically, unless you needed to assign an IP address to the bridge group,
wouldn't it be easier to just bag IRB altogether?
