It sounds like you've enabled aaa using the command 'aaa new-model' but
you haven't defined on authentication source in aaa. Either disable aaa,
or to point things to local authentication you should be able to use the
global command 'aaa authentication ppp default local' then proceed with
your usernames and passwords.

Could someone please explain what the following warning message mean?

When I typed "ppp authen chap", I got the following warning message:

AAA: Warning, authentication list "default" is not defined for PPP.

r5(config-if)#ppp authentication chap
