As a transplant to Canada, I will speak to the good reputation of
Dalhousie. It is one of the premier schools in Canada, certainly on par
and often better than McGill which is perhaps slightly better known in
the US. The campus is old and beautiful. It is a real Establishment
school, not the sort of institution you would get a matchbook degree
from. They have high standards of academic excellence particularly in
philosophy, architecture and engineering and if you can put up with
Nor'easters and strong whiskey, it would be an excellent place to study.
I was looking at this program myself and it looks quite strong.
I have a sneaking suspicion that these programs will mean more to HR
than to engineers, but that is a large part of the reason that you would
get the degree anyway. It could also be of merit if you were looking at
a management role in the future.
At any rate, the Nova Scotians can beer 'n' gear with the best of them.
At very least you will have a great time in the program!
