Disclaimer: I work for Global Knowledge, and so get my classes free. That
being said, I think their way of doing it is more educationally sound. When
you cram information into your head for 5 days, how much do you remember?
If you spread that out, you remember - and therefore learn - much more.
Their classes are a shortcut to learning the issues we bang our heads
against on this list. You end up with 3 labs that you've worked through
instead of one. You've had 3 weeks of using the equipment instead of one.
Plus the equipment is remote, so you have a chance of using it after the
class is over. Yes, it's the expensive way to do it. But on the other
side, I haven't had to buy ISDN, ATM or Token Ring switches because I've had
the time to work through the issues with them while doing the ACPC labs. As
someone else on here said, the Mock Lab is wonderful, and was a really rude
awakening for me and many others.
As with every certification, you have two competing goals. Do you learn the
technologies so well that you understand them and are able to apply your
knowledge and thus pass the exam, or do you just learn what you need to in
order to pass? This isn't to take anything away from Bruce or Val - they're
smart and knowledgable, and their class is very good at what it does. But
they aren't the CCIE Gods. There are other people in their league out
there, doing it other ways. You have to find what works for you and
fulfills your own goals, I guess.
Enough BS - back to studying!

thats exactly my line of thought. what else sucks about it is that throw in
3 or 4 5 night stays at a hotel plus food and then think of the total price.

Wow thats expensive, to me it seems like it might be better off taking the
test without taking any classes and do the self study and take the test.
Shoot with Global Knowledge and its costs I can take that test 10 times.
hehehe no flames :)

but one thing you want to pay attention to with Global Knowledge, is the
price on all of them= $12,780 if you want to take ACPC 1,2,3 and the mock
lab....which doesnt include travel. Other camps are floating around the
$5000 with proven track records which are only 5 days long. GK's would take
3 plus weeks of training. Is there anyone on this list with their numbers
who have went to GK's camp?

I was able to attend Global Knowledge Advanced CCIE Prep Class 1,2 and 3.
I found them very informative and incredibly helpful in my training for the
CCIE. Attending all 3 of the classes took months off of my training, The
instructors were very helpful in explaining what I did not understand,
pointing out my weaknesses and helping me understand what I needed to do to
overcome.
I would recommend them to anyone who is thinking about taking the classes.
