I think the modem autodiscovery cycles through about 4-5 speeds as it tries to
discover your modem. If it doesn't find it properly, it just keeps cycling. I w
ould try turning the modem off/on, changing the modem cable, or determining a m
odem setup string instead of using autodiscover.

...then after a second or two, the router changes the speed on the line to a
seemingly random number (and screws up the dialin capability). When I issue
a "show line" it gives me a different speed each time! What the hell is
that all about??? Anyone???
