Ben,

When Novell Servers and Routers boot up they do a get general server on
all interfaces requesting all known servers from adjacent devices so
they can build up their sap table. Similarly when NetWare clients (PCs,
Print Servers etc) do not get a response from a get nearest server
request, they also do a get general server. In a large network this
impacts resources on all devices (boxes having to send all the servers
and those receiving them). It also uses up lots of bandwidth.

If you have a runaway print server which keeps on sending ggs's you can
potentially cripple you network.

So, the output ggs filters controls the numbers of saps sent in the ggs
replies.

Get nearest server is a request from a client pc asking if anyone out
there knows how to get to a specific server. The gns filter controls the
replies to these type of requests.

Hope this helps

Regards Ange
